From 2018 to 2019, over one million Florida residents struggled with an addiction to drugs or alcohol. Unfortunately, only around 55,000 received the treatment they needed. Addiction rates and fatal overdoses in Florida have only continued to rise since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, but help is available.

If you or someone you love is struggling with substance use in the Fort Lauderdale area, The Recovery Village may be the perfect place to receive life-saving care. Learn more about our organization, the evidence-based programs we offer and how we can help you begin a healthier, substance-free life today.

WHO WE ARE

The Recovery Village is a nationwide network of addiction treatment facilities, with locations that serve Florida, Ohio, New Jersey, Washington and many other states. Our accredited, licensed rehab centers are staffed by a multidisciplinary team of experts who provide a full continuum of evidence-based care. Our approach involves fostering an effective and long-term recovery by treating each person as a whole — not just their addiction.

THE SETTING

Each year from 2005 to 2010, around 7.8% of people aged 12 or older struggled with a substance use disorder in the Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Pompano Beach area. It’s our goal to reduce this number in any way we can, which is why we offer Fort Lauderdale drug and alcohol treatment services.

Our Fort Lauderdale location serves as a gateway to the addiction treatment and recovery journey. The area — just minutes from the beach — provides a serene, beautiful environment that serves as a safe place in which healing can take place. Our location also provides nearby interstate and airport access, making it easy for people to travel from surrounding areas or even other parts of the country.

Levels of Care

Our South Florida drug and alcohol rehab facilities provide a full continuum of care. Clients typically start in an intensive, highly controlled inpatient environment and gradually transition to more independent settings as they progress through early recovery.

Medical Detox

Typically the first step of treatment, medical detox allows people to undergo the withdrawal process in a safe, secure environment. During detox, addiction specialists monitor the client’s health and treat any uncomfortable or severe withdrawal symptoms that may occur.

Residential Treatment

Residential treatment takes place in an inpatient setting; clients live onsite and receive various forms of treatment each day. This level of care is where people begin to learn how to manage the negative feelings, emotions and situations that led them to substance use in the first place. Clients also begin to learn strategies for avoiding substance use in the future.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Partial hospitalization is a step down from residential treatment; it typically provides more independence and free time than a client would have in an inpatient setting. Clients who have fewer medical needs or have completed treatment before may start PHP directly after detox.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Intensive outpatient programs are designed to help clients during the volatile transition back into day-to-day life. Clients live off-site, often in a sober living environment, and return to the rehab facility for treatment each day.

Outpatient Services

As clients become more comfortable with their recovery, they may step down to outpatient care. Clients live off-site and visit the facility on a part-time basis to receive ongoing therapy. This allows clients to return to their school, career and family responsibilities while still practicing and learning new recovery skills.

Aftercare Planning

The recovery journey doesn’t end after rehab, and people still need support for future obstacles that may arise. After receiving treatment at our facility, clients move into the aftercare phase and gain access to a wide variety of tools that help with long-term sobriety. Clients can take advantage of support groups, alumni services, routine check-ins, relapse prevention plans and many other resources to ensure lifelong recovery.
