Florida’s next continuing education event features occupational therapist and yoga instructor Cheryl Albright. She’s the founder of Soul to Soul Yoga and has 13 years of experience in occupational therapy. Albright grew up with an older brother who had autism and an aunt with down syndrome. From working at Rotary Camp Onsewaya, she started working with children who had special needs and taught yoga for the Special Child for seven years. Albright received registered yoga teacher training in 2014 and advanced training in adapting Hatha yoga for those suffering from scleroderma.
Jessica Spencer will then share her expertise on how drugs can affect an adolescent brain. Spencer is the community outreach coordinator for Next Generation Village, which is a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility in Central Florida that is specifically for minors. Spencer is a certified prevention and addictions professional in Florida and possesses more than 20 years of experience in the field. Her specific areas of expertise are working and volunteering in substance use prevention, intervention, and treatment, predominantly with adolescents and their families.

The previous continuing education event in Florida featured nationally recognized DBT-Linehan board-certified clinician Nancy S. Gordon. She discussed how dialectical behavior therapy can be adapted to treat people suffering from emotional behavioral disorders and substance use disorders. Gordonis the founder of the Tampa Bay Center for Cognitive Behavior and she explained the benefits of using a therapy that was originally designed to help individuals suffering from personality disorders to treat people struggling with substance misuse.
