Frequently Asked Questions

At ARS, we understand that you know your client best. We make sure you stay a key part of care during every phase of their treatment. During intake, your knowledge of your client’s mental health history helps us deliver quality care that addresses their unique needs. Throughout treatment, we’ll contact you regularly to help you stay updated on your client’s progress. Once your client has entered the later stages of treatment, you’ll work closely with our clinicians and case managers to ensure your client transitions smoothly and successfully back to care with you.
Because treatment plans are carefully tailored to every client’s needs, each individual treatment path is unique. However, many clients dealing with severe addictions undergo a full continuum of care, including medical detox, residential inpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and outpatient. Individuals with less severe substance use disorders may begin in less intensive levels of care, such as intensive outpatient and outpatient treatment. The steps that each client undergoes and the amount of time they spend in each stage are determined based on individual medical evaluations.
While specific therapies can vary in both group and individual therapeutic sessions, all ARS centers use a comprehensive range of evidence-based treatment methods. The most common of these include individual therapy, group therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and neurocognitive therapy.
ARS facilities are equipped to address most co-occurring mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, personality disorders, eating disorders, bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The IAFF Center of Excellence, in particular, is dually licensed as a primary mental health and substance abuse treatment center for fire fighters. Instead of masking symptoms of co-occurring disorders by only addressing addiction, ARS treats the whole person. This philosophy helps promote long-term recovery by teaching clients how to manage their triggers and provides them with the skills necessary to prevent relapse. While ARS facilities offer a full continuum of care, we encourage our clients to return to their referring providers if clinically appropriate.
While at an ARS facility, clients gradually progress from intensive levels of care to flexible treatment options, with increasing independence in each subsequent stage. Our clinicians ensure that clients are prepared for each new stage of treatment and provide continued support during transitions. The same goes for the larger transition from treatment to aftercare. Our treatment providers work closely with clients to ensure they receive continued support from clinicians and healthcare professionals like you after leaving an ARS facility.
We want to make transitioning your client back to your care as seamless and possible. Before being discharged from our center, case managers and clinicians will collaborate with you to create a detailed aftercare plan for your client. During this process, we can loop in any additional health care providers you believe can help serve your client in their recovery.
While length of stay can vary dramatically from patient to patient, the typical length of stay is somewhere between 30 and 90 days. However, each individual client’s length of stay cannot be determined until they have been assessed on-site by medical professionals and treatment providers. Length of stay is subject to change depending on the rate the client progresses through treatment programs and each level of care.
Depending on the type and severity of your client’s mental health condition, our clinicians may prescribe medications to help manage their symptoms. However, these medications are only a small part of the care your client will receive. Clients also undergo individual and group therapy, which helps them better understand the factors that contribute to their substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.
ARS makes it easy for clinicians to check their client’s insurance eligibility with our real-time insurance benefits checker. After filling out a secure form, you can find information about your client’s insurance coverage in a matter of seconds. If you have any additional questions about your client’s coverage, your community outreach representative can help you verify more information.
