Hunter Mefford oversees marketing for ARS. Prior to joining ARS in September 2015, Hunter worked across a wide variety of industries including education, e-commerce, direct marketing, technology and consumer / retail. Hunter has led marketing departments for organizations ranging from small private equity held brands to national direct marketing and e-commerce retailers. Hunter has built teams of creative, operations, marketing and engineering professionals in pursuit of lowering customer acquisition costs and growing market share, executed through more effective media, efficient operations and the clever use of technology to streamline business processes. Most recently, Hunter helped grow regional and national education organizations, dramatically increasing customer acquisition and growth for Southern Careers Institute and Delta Career Education Corporation. Prior to his roles in the education sector, Hunter led eCommerce divisions for two Internet Retailer Top 400 organizations, firstSTREET Inc. and Circuit City Stores, Inc.
Hunter graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. In Economics. Hunter has also been active as an entrepreneur since founding his first venture in 2002. While attending Uva Hunter founded several companies, the last of which grew to be one of the top 800 sites on the Internet and was acquired in late 2006. In 2014, Hunter also won an international start-up competition StartUp Bus, leading a team of engineers as the pitch man for a product taken from concept to production in 3 days. Knocking out thousands of competitors across all European countries, Hunter’s efforts landed him on the main stage of the Pioneer’s festival in the Hoffberg Palace, Vienna, Austria, pitching to an audience of thousands of VC’s at Europe’s largest science, technology and engineering conference.
