Our Facility

The IAFF Center of Excellence is a first-of-its-kind rehabilitation center designed especially for and by firefighters. The 65-bed facility, located on 15 acres just outside Washington, DC, gives these fire fighters and first responders the opportunity to receive treatment among peers, led by clinicians who have experience working with these professionals.

Therapist are very knowledgeable with clinicians who specialize in PTSD, addiction and other issues. Group therapy offers a wide range of coping skills which can change your life if you let them. The facility has a lot of sports you can fill time with. While at the facility I participated in Brazilian jiu jitsu 2-4 times a week they have mats available for this in the rec trailer along with bjj gi’s boxing gloves, targets and heavy bags.Special shout out to Nurse Faraha who did my initial intake. She is on duty frequently and hav immense knowledge and understanding. She’s the most caring nurse, she doesn’t just help patients medically but emotionally. Whenever I had a bad day she sensed it and took time to talk to me just like a therapist. She’s a more empathetic and caring nurse than any I’ve ever met!
