Fire Fighter Treatment Center Continues Growth, Now In-Network With Aetna

Fire Fighters under Aetna plans across the country to get better access to treatment for substance abuse, post-traumatic stress (PTSD) and other co-occurring mental health issues. UPPER MARLBORO, MD – 2018 — The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Center of Excellence for Behavioral Health Treatment and Recovery is now a participating provider with Aetna, allowing in-network benefits to be utilized. This new agreement will provide greater and more affordable access to the center for past and present IAFF union members with Aetna plans. The Center of Excellence is a first-of-its-kind facility focusing on treating fire fighters battling post-traumatic stress and other behavioral health issues.

“Aetna’s recognition of the great work being done at the Center of Excellence, and adding it to its network is crucial to our efforts to get our members the help they need,” said IAFF General President Harold Schaitberger. The IAFF Center of Excellence is a full-service treatment facility located outside of Washington, DC, specializing in comprehensive care for professional fire fighters and paramedics struggling with substance abuse, addiction, post-traumatic stress and co-occurring mental health issues. The center is a Maryland-licensed treatment provider for both substance use disorder and mental health, an accredited provider of behavioral healthcare services by The Joint Commission and is available to those on active-duty, as well as retirees. The Center is a joint project between the IAFF and Advanced Recovery Systems (ARS), an integrated behavioral healthcare management company. “We are so pleased that our organization has been incredibly successful in efforts to continue expanding access to the Center of Excellence,” said Dr. Mitchell Eisenberg, Chief Executive Officer of Advanced Recovery Systems. “Aetna and many other major insurance providers have recognized the exceptional quality of care available in this unique setting for those seeking treatment opportunities and recovery from substance abuse, addiction and PTSD, and we’re honored to serve IAFF members throughout the U.S. and Canada.” The Center of Excellence is now an in-network provider with Aetna, Cigna, Humana, MultiPlan, First Health and Healthcare Solutions.
